What Kind of Life Would Your Death Pour Out?

Tragic death grabs us all. Who hasn’t been at least a little rocked by the sudden death of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and their friends.

I am not much of a basketball person - really not much of a sports person unless it’s mountain biking or triathlons. So I didn’t know too much about Kobe. But since his death I do.

  • He poured himself into excellence

  • He poured himself into his family

  • He poured himself into mentoring young people

He is more alive to me in death than he ever was while he was alive. For me Kobe’s death isn’t a dead thing but a living thing.

He poured his life into some important and impacting things that are living on beyond his death. That’s a commendable legacy that seems way better to me than basketball, fame, and lots of money.

What about you? What is your life pouring out?

When you die (odds are you will), what would live on in spite of your death?

Or put in some other tricky words -

what kind of life would your death pour out?

I see Kobe in a more concise, important and inspiring way not because he tragically died, but because he inspiringly lived.

  • If your friends and acquaintances had to write three sentences about your life and legacy what would they be?

  • If you wrote three sentences about your life and legacy what would they be? Would you write those words because you are wishing them so or making them so?

Live out your legacy while you’re alive! Make it so!
